# Better Storage

Vanilla storage, made easier. Players see every chest in a chunk in one screen, search it, and take or put away items without opening chests one by one. Chests can be given a job, hoppers can filter, and a chest with a furnace or crafter in it does that block's work by itself.

Nothing changes until a player uses it. A normal right-click on a chest still just opens the chest.

## Which applies to you?

* **I am installing it.** [Install Better Storage](/plugins/better-storage/getting-started/install.md). Two minutes, and it works the moment the server is back up.

## Will it work on my server?

There are two files in every download. Pick the one for your version:

**It will not work on Spigot or CraftBukkit.** The search box and the settings windows use Paper's dialog windows, which those don't have.

**It will not work on 1.21 or older.**

Claim plugins are respected without any setup: GriefPrevention, Lands, Residence and WorldGuard. Players only ever see and use chests they could open by hand.

## What players get

* **The storage screen.** Every chest, barrel and copper chest in the chunk, added up, in tabs like the creative inventory, with search and a scrollbar.
* **Chest jobs.** Choose what a chest takes and in which order chests fill, so "Quick Dump" sends things where they belong.
* **Chests that work.** Sneak and right-click a chest holding a furnace, smoker, blast furnace, crafter, brewing stand or composter.
* **Hopper filters.** Choose what a hopper lets through, and let it pull in dropped items nearby.
